Phnom Penh: Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, General Vong Pisen, has inspected three newly-acquired Russian-made helicopters recently bought by the government. He says that Prime Minister Hun Sen decided to buy the Mi-17 choppers for the military’s use.
On Friday, General Pisen inspected each of the helicopters, instructing Air Force officers to look after them. He expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for their acquisition saying they’ll be a huge help in the fight against Covid-19.
Last weekend, the government used the helicopters to distribute AstraZeneca booster shots to seven border provinces. The rollout of the booster shots started last Sunday. They’re being administered to frontline workers inoculated with either Sinovac or Sinopharm. The frontliners prioritized are mostly those working along the border with Thailand, where the Delta variant of Covid-19 continues to spread.
